Going to Firenze.

We're leaving for Florence tomorrow!

Finally we move into the new house and will start our normal life again.
We'll definitely miss my mum that was helping us so much with Valentina and everything else.

But we're super excited! Stay posted for news from our new life in Toscana.

Little problem:
We seem not to have a land line nor internet/email for the first two weeks.

We'll let you know.

Swaddling - Inbakeren!

We tried, successfully, the magic trick!

Swaddling WORKS!!

Since we started applying it to Valentina every time she has to sleep she really does, and even on her back!
Gone are the days we had to carry her around for hours 'till she would fall asleep only to have her continue sleeping on our chests.

We're free! And she's happy, well rested and thankful (we think).

Tomorrow we move to Merano, to my parents's place, for a week. They leave for one week of holiday and we can stay there with Davide.
This means also no internet connection so we'll talk to you guys soon after the 18th of August.

Sadly enough Davide will return to the Netherlands on the 17th. He'll start school in Breda on the 20th and live in a new house with his mum. Sigh! But I'll visit him VERY soon.

Plus we have planned to spend this year's Christmas Holidays (Cassie, Davide, Valentina and me ALL together) in the US! We'll fly to San Diego and stop over in NYC too to see friends.

That's it for now. It's almost 3am.
A presto.

Keep checking photo updates on our web album...

We haven't been updating our blog recently due to "hard routine" of feeding Valentina, trying to sleep and enjoying the few energies left over.

Davide arrived two weeks ago for 4 weeks summer vacation! He's staying overnight at my parents place in Merano and we spend time together every afternoon.
My mum helps Cassie with taking care of Valentina (and giving Cassie the chance to recover from "the night") and I have time to be with Davide.

Cassie's also taking antibiotics to stop a "mastitis" she's getting on a breast. That hurts and makes her tired too. Davide instead is recovering from ear pain. He's going to the swimming pool practically every day and swims under water all the time. GREAT FUN but that might have affected his ear. Although the doctor found a bit of cotton in his aching ear (!)

Valentina on the other hand is suffering from cramps/colic/reflux; one of these things. She very often cries after being fed, specially at night :-((, and refuses to lie on her back in the crib at night...
This turns into having her sleep on our chests from 2:30 am (when she's done with the last feeding followed by crying like crazy) 'till late in the morning when we feel we've put together enough bits of sleep-time (4/5 hours between us) to tackle the day. You understand we're pretty tired.

This all could be a rather standard pattern babies go through the first three months of their lives; the peak seems to be during their 6th week (now!)
Friday we take Valentina to the osteopath. Might help.

We're super grateful to nonna for her help (it makes her SO happy to be with Valentina and to hold her tight when she sleeps...!)

Presents are coming in from the Netherlands and Germany from our friends! Thank you all for thinking of us and Valentina. We love you and miss you!

Talk soon,
Lorenzo

PS: Cassie promised to post a blog soon........
